This is a page dedicated to the final entry of all the past blog post that can be found through the link above, that will take you to all twelve of my past blog post. My blog post I wanted to focus on creating a new art piece every week with one sole meaning to each one relating to myself through past, present and what I hope for in the future.

#FallSemesterARTEDBook
Throughout this overall art practice, I think that most of what I was able to consolidate all my own personal ideas and being able to document my own perspective regarding multiple aspects of teaching, and teaching as an art teacher. Upon reflection on the 12 journal entries I didn't see any changes in my perspectives that I observed in my own personal beliefs. Through media and visual representation there was only on specific change that I made from drawing more realistic to realizing that it was a lot to create something new, drawing and realistic the way that I artistically wanted in a week. So I discovered the idea of creating tiles after doing a repeat pattern project in my fibers class, having a set template for the media that I wanted to create was the best way for me to get what I wanted drawn, the academic topic met and creating with my own artistic vision on the paper tiles. This also influenced my final piece that I am working on for the final all encompassing project of making a book binding the completed tiles that I have into a soft-cover book. My hashtag for the final experience doing the journal entries would be #FallSemesterARTEDBook because in the book it will take each journal entry, printed out on the page, written reflections from my own personal journal about this fall semester, memorable moments in my education classes this semester, and the actual tile that I created all into the book. The hashtag is an all encompassing idea for the whole semester in Art education.
As mentioned before I am making a book that will have all the elements from my fall semester, this for me is the best way to show the overall idea for this main project of documenting what has happened to me in an academic way, from art education creating a book that showcases not only this project but a way to reflect on my other education classes as well. The reason for the book steams back to my time in Fibers two, I really enjoyed being in fibers this semester I've learned a lot and created a lot of different weavings that furthered my love for being at the loom. The professor in this class during the first day had us create small books that we could use to sketch for projects, and I used to do a lot of bookbinding in high school as it was one of the projects that the drawing one started and I helped with then, so it's definitely something that I enjoy spending time doing. A sturdy cardstock paper will be the main paper that is used to create the book, were I am hoping to bind in my journal entry art pieces into the book, along with all the other elements from my semester as mentioned previously. For the all encompassing idea of the journal entries for me I saw myself move towards being more in the teaching mindset then in the artist mindset. For most if not all of them I focused on the teaching mindset and how that related to my own teaching pedagogy, I never focused on the art that I was creating as in putting it on an equal level as my academics for this class, and that could be seen in the first half of the journal entries as the artwork did not get completed. I was afraid to create something and not have it look good enough to turn in, this is probably due to the studio classes that I have taken, and my own self confidence regarding my art. So throughout looking at the journal entries, yes there's a change and expansion on the work that's being done and turned in, for starters the work is starting to get done mid-way, yet i'm not as picky about how it looks, more looking at if the work is representing the idea that I was writing about in the journal entry.

#FALLSEMESTERARTEDBOOK
Below I have included the YouTube video that I utilized to follow along how to stitch the pages (leaflets) together into a final book, and how to finish off the spine of the book. I found this video particularly helpful as they go over the paper you can use, the type of string that you can use, and the different techniques you can utilize to get better edges, folds, and sewing the spine together neatly.
I think from my test book, I need to work on how to make the pages large enough to incorporate the journal entry artworks that I have been working on. As well as the neatness of how the spine looks with the yarn, but I do plan to hide this with my fabric and another piece of paper folded like a book cover.

Final art entry #FALLSEMESTERARTEDBOOK
Dec. 15th 2019
From my final artwork I have created a handbound book, I utilized a strong drawing paper as I would like to keep adding and drawing in it as I go into my student teaching. If I had to title my artwork it would be Teaching Vol. 1 because it was a book that I created surrounding my semester about teaching. It combines all the content from my art studio education class. The connecting between the past, current and future learning is through the order that I chose to put my art pieces in the book. The older art piece is placed in front of the book as its from my past on creating artwork, it's the first art piece that I started. It goes from the oldest post to the newest, and I left the rest of the journal blank as its to represent the future that is unknown. Having the blank pages added and available, during student teaching it creates an art piece that can be added on into the future and being able to reflect on teaching or learning as I more through my future. I chose to create this book as I was really interested in moving into creating books after we started Fibers 2 with creating our own sketchbook. I had previously created sketchbooks in my past but never thought about creating it as a form of artwork, or utilize as art. This idea can be linked with the idea of past reflection as it was something that I did in my past during school, and it inspires me to create a unit where students are creating their own sketchbooks. Going into detail regarding the overall composition of the book, the paper is a bristol paper to make it heavier, and more sturdy to handle any kind of materials that are added to the paper in the book. I chose this as I want to start drawing in the sketchbook, over the winter break and into student teaching I want to add more images, writings, and drawings into the book. The fabric on the cover is used to protect the spine, it is a hand dyed linen that was adhered with double sided tape so it can be removed to show the spine in the future to my students. The overall process for creating the book was about 5 hours of work, to gather materials, folding each piece of paper evenly, and then sewing the leaflets together. The materials did change from using cardstock paper, to an actual drawing paper as I wanted it to be more functional later on and increase the functionality of the book. The book can be coined as a sketchbook, or a scrapbook in a way, yet it's also that handcrafted quality with artistic intent so it's more of a functional element. This idea that all art can not be functional i wanted to explore with, as in my time during Fibers I wanted to create more artwork that had a function or served a purpose in my life, and I carried this idea into my idea for creating the final artwork. I would like to further expand on this book, painting on the cover meaningful things that are in my life, drawing in sketchbooks different classroom environments, and exploring in my own art as I enjoy drawing more than anything so being able to do that is also special to me. From the overall experience of creating artwork on a weekly bases started out as a challenge for me. I found thinking of ideas to focus on hard as thinking of project ideas has always been a challenge for me, as I usually during this semester turns towards doing ideation activities to help me think of ideas. Moving forward I was thinking of creating a quilt, that lead me to the idea of creating the 6x6 squares, as I didn't want to do them hand stitched as that would take a long time and my stitching skills aren't that great. So I moved into creating the squares as drawings these allowed me to reflect on the journal entry portion of the assignment and create my art piece based off of that journal entry. For my future teaching and learning I want to bring the feeling of progress, that nothing is actually finished, you can always keep improving on different areas of teaching and in your own art. This I hope to apply to my future teaching as I want to always remember that some things aren't going to go perfectly no matter how much lesson planning I do, or practice, some classes you can't assume what's going to happen and to not get worked up if things aren't going the way I wanted.
